Seeing as our household has a lot less income and a lot more expenses than we've seen in the past, we opted for a "budget" getaway. Meaning, low budget. Like, low, low, low budget.
Yup, we decided to go camping.
When we told people this, leading up to our trip, there were mixed reactions. Half the people we talked to would raise their eyebrows and say: "Camping? Like, in a tent???" Other people would say: "Ew - car camping?" Insinuating that camping isn't really camping if you can drive your car up to the site. Oh, and of course, there was: "You know it's going to be cold, right???"
Regardless, we didn't really care. We like camping...and we needed some just-the-two-of-us time. The less distractions (and television, and cell reception, and Degrassi Junior High) the better.
We didn't do much aside from read, drink beer, eat, build fires...and a few other things that need not be mentioned here. But it was pretty awesome...and gave us lots of time to reflect on all the thousands of things we have to be thankful for this year.
Our awesome campsite at Emily Provincial Park.
My handsome man building a fire (one of the many things I'm thankful for).
How did you spend your Thanksgiving? Also, on a side note, what's your fave Ontario campsite (or a site within a decent distance from Toronto)?
